Apple Slab Pie using Canned Apple Pie Filling
This EASY Apple Slab Pie using apple pie filling is the easiest way to satisfy your cravings for the classic dessert!
Ingredients:
- 2 refrigerated pie crusts , thawed
- 42 ounces apple pie filling (2 cans)
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup quick cooking oats
- 2 teaspoons apple pie spice
- 1/2 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter , cold cut into small cubes
Direction
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Lightly flour a clean work surface and then layer both of the pie crusts on top of each other. Using a rolling pin, roll out to a 17×12 inch rectangle.
- Transfer the pie crust into a 15×10 rimmed baking sheet, pressing the dough into the corners. Fold over excess dough along te edge to make a rustic edge.
- Spread the apple pie filling into the baking sheet.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, pumpkin pie spice, salt and butter. Using a pastry cutter or two forks., press the mixture together until crumbly.
- Evenly sprinkle over the top of the pie.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the edges of the crust are a golden brown.
- Remove and allow to rest for at least 15 minutes before serving.
- Top with caramel sauce, whipped cream or ice cream to serve.
